Sullivan column

Cats. How about sticking to writing about cats, Joe Sullivan, instead of hiding behind your dead mother's skirts to voice your opinion about Mike Pence? What a cowardly way of getting your point across. When you dip into politics, you lose the humor that makes your writing worth reading. There are an abundance of resources available for anyone who wants to read someone's political opinion. Written by those who are up front about their purpose. Don't try to disguise your opinion with a layer of "over yonder" humor thinking that excuses your crudeness. And I totally agree with you, you don't understand international diplomacy. Fortunately, your irritating column was followed by the excellent one written by Lucas Presson defending the vice president as a man of high character, that character shining through in Pence's defense of his Christian faith after attacks by the media. Something Edna Sullivan might have found refreshing.

F-word

Could someone enlighten me because I must be missing something? I hear individuals I work with, and out in public inserting the "F" word in front of at least one word in every sentence. Do they think it makes them sound grown-up? Do they think it makes them fit into the crowd? Do they think it sounds amusing? From my point of view if makes them sound absolutely ignorant. No, make that STUPID! I would hope that this isn't the type of language they would use in front of their parents, but on occasion, I have heard this foul language used by the parent in front of their children ... so I guess in this case the nuts don't fall far from the tree. How sad that with all the wonderful, descriptive words in our language, the "F" word seems to be their preferred additive in a sentence.

Sullivan column: V.P. Pence is not afraid to voice his religious views and love of God....he's not one to say one thing and do the opposite. The folks of "The View" would do well to copy his feelings and actions. One result of Pence's openness of his religious views is from the Gay community who condemns him as well as other of the Faith.

F-word: Agree 100%. All one has to do is to listen to the music coming out of the gutter recording studios and from the Liberal Hollywood movies. TV shows are not far behind in their bad language usage.

And that's the way it should be according to Schaefer's World....Thursday February 22, 2018.

  • Sullivan column....cat's don't like skimmed milk , mew...

F-word....would the "F" word "Fornicate" be preferred ? ..and so politically correct raises it's ugly head again . Free Speech slowly disappears like a line drawn in the ground with rain..

    Sullivan column

Notice that his use of the word ******* was NOT censored but if someone tries to use it as a reference to what he said it IS censored in the comments. Kind of a double standard here.

    F word

I have to say that when I get mad or frustrated bad words seem to just be there. In normal daily conversation I usually don't say them. I do however tire of hearing it when it is used during just normal conversation constantly along with many more.

  • It's not Constitutional because drug testing of any kind means a person is guilty until proven innocent .

The Constitution says a person is innocent until proven guilty .

    Rick,

Most drug testing usually involves you listing your prescribed medications. Then if you test positive for something it can be ruled out BUT people don't have scrips for Meth, Ice, Crack, etc. The biggest issue with those is they are not detected in urine after 3-4 days. Marijuana can be detected for a much longer period. So I don't see it making much difference. Hair testing is too expensive. If someone knows they may be tested they will just hold off a few days before they go in.

Cape City workers have random drug testing. They are notified at work and have to go and give a sample within a certain amount of time of being notified. They don't have time to alter anything so if they are dirty they are busted!

  • I had to find and read Sullivan's column. Didn't see forward or F word in there anywhere. Has it been edited out?

However he is good at showing his ignorance and that is why I don't read his opinions. I think his mother should have told him something about shaking the dust off a town and moving on when your message is rejected.

IMO , it doesn't matter the substance , it's the accusation of guilt and having to prove innocence .

    OJ,

He called Pence a pea ant. But not using those words. I don't know any other way to put it so it won't be censored.

I look at it this way. If you are living off of welfare and sucking up the taxpayer's money and you are buying/selling and/or using illegal drugs then you should not be getting benefits. It should be Zero Tolerance!

Get a job to support your habit or get help to clean up!

I tire of the people who abuse the system and sometimes you just have to let them find a way to crack down on those abusers.

I had to straighten Theorist's picture of welfare. Don't think it sunk in, but my opinion, when I'm paying your way you have to deal with my attitude and opinion about what, how and when you get your charity. Else go somewhere else.

    Wheels,

The idea was good in the beginning. Then it just went to he** in a handbag! It was and still is meant for assistance only. Many though have found loopholes and now use it for their only support.

Women of all races that just sit on their backsides with their legs spread having one child after another with different men and just keep on drawing more and more. They live with men instead of marrying them so they can keep on sitting there.

And people wonder what is wrong with kids today.

It's a dam shame but now they want cuts for everyone. It isn't fair to the ones who are trying and struggling. It isn't fair for the elderly or families where both parents work but still need some help. Or the single parents who work and pay daycare and need some help.

They are hurting many because of some! That Pees me off!

The Right of Innocent until Proven Guilty is in the Constitution . The Right to Welfare/Socialism is not .

A person who is convicted guilty to life in prison gets food , housing , and medical care paid by the tax payer , citizen do now too . Those with the most just got to keep the most , those with the less had nothing to give , everyone else got $60 bucks a week and maybe a one time bonus . There's a thunder in a distance .

Go back to Commodities , a little at a time . USA able bodied Entitlement recipients should do the infrastructure work , sorry Unions and Government Union Contracts .

    IMO

  • If you listen closely to that thunder in the distance you may hear 'benefits' and Entitlements' referring to SS. I think it is all part of that Single Pay idea that the progressives use to confuse people into supporting a Communist ideology of equality which is all goes to government and is redistributed.

As far as people in need of assistance, more local determinations of who is deserving is needed to weed out the abusers. A one policy fits all from central government or State government can't work. As for going back to commodities, Yes, fill the food banks with basics from county funds and encourage people to donate to them. Most people that are just needing a helping hand can be trusted to take only what they need.

Karen makes a good point. We probably all know of a single mom family where the father is not included but could be if not for loss of benefits.

With the demasculinization of boys without a father figure it stands to reason why so many are at risk.

"A one policy fits all from central government or State government can't work."

It doesn't work. There are so many examples of failure to look at if one would just turn of the boob tube for awhile and do a little reading and studying on the subject.

Take a good look at the Amana Colonies in Iowa. A perfect example of Communism even though they didn't call it that. And it didn't work until some people wise enough to see what was happening caused the system to change entirely and introduced the Capitalistic system. People became property owners and became responsible for their own welfare and they joined the real world. Prior to that, people were told where to live, where to work and where to eat at a community dining room. They survive today as a tourist attraction.

    .........

Good point . My thinking is the 'benefits' and Entitlements' would come from an employer instead of through a monthly Government plan as is today . Corporate and/or business just received a tax cut through the new Tax Laws so they can expand , hire , and be more profitable , no ? With Corporate , or the private sector , doing the infrastructure those on Entitlements would get off the Government teat and be self sufficient . They would pay for their own housing , food , and medical care , taxes should go down . Entitlements and their benefits will slowly go away .

A thunder in a distance isn't money only , lightening doesn't strike the same place twice . A division of the People plus the morphing of Rights into privileges that can be taken or given as needed by Government is a raging thunderstorm with lightening , flooding , hail , and even tornados....

  • The private sector providing jobs to get People off of Government programs is one step to get the USA away from it's growing Socialist State .
