Daycare germs

Parents are sending kids to daycares now that schools are closed. Daycares are no different from schools and nursing homes. Actually, newborn babies and young kids don't have a voice with what symptoms they have with this virus. And kids spread more germs at the day cares!

Thank housekeepers

All of the health care workers and all emergency personnel across the nation deserve our sincerest gratitude, but there is a group workers that go unappreciated and they are the housekeepers. Most are underpaid. They are really putting their health at risk. They are the ones that are sanitizing the hospitals and nursing homes every day. So the next time you see one of them, tell them "thank you." They will be a big reason why we beat this virus.

Oversight

Oversight is essential with the Covid-19 $2 trillion stimulus money. If Congress doesn't keep an eye out, this administration will turn into the biggest slush fund in history and taxpayers will be paying for it for generations!

Disclose names

Why doesn't America make positive test results be exempt from the HIPAA law. They should be public information and released to the press. If I knew the people's names that test positive I would know I'd been exposed and would self isolate. It would help in the control of its ability to spread throughout our entire nation.

Stimulus allocation

If the Trump Administration and Congress are running up the national debt to bolster the economy, why are they sending money to Social Security recipients? If they are on SS, they are already receiving government money. They have income. It is just adding to the deficit in hopes of keeping votes for November.

Wise up

I drove through Arena Park Sunday afternoon on 3/29/20 and the tennis courts were full of people along with skate park and playground Equipment. Right there within spitting distance of the Covid 19 test site. Ignorant people need to wise up.

Cape crime

Two more shootings in one afternoon in Cape and no arrests. Business as usual in the ol' hometown! Will our murder rate for the year be higher than the virus death rate?

Daycare germs: Most of the kids have better immune systems that fight off the current coronavirus. Parents need to follow the CDC hygiene guidelines.

Thank housekeepers: All health care workers, housekeepers, and those listed as essential workers are all heroes during this virus infection.

Oversight: Believe you mean keep an eye on the Democrats trying to sneak Pork in any stimulus bill. Since the Chinese were responsible for the outbreak of the Virus and then covered it up, IMO - any Chinese owned business and property here in the USA should be taken over by the USA in order to recoup some of the monies lost in the USA.

Disclose names: Let's not be so quick to do away with any of our Freedoms and Rights.

Stimulus allocation: Does that also apply to those receiving a monthly welfare check or those Illegals getting free health care and a monthly check or those on S/S disability....you might want to think things through before opening your mouth.

Wise up: Very true, social distancing is for our protection - wake up and follow the guidelines so this Virus infection can be conquered.

Cape crime: Will personal attacks increase by those suffering from cabin fever - one suggestion read the Bible in your spare time.

And that's the way it should be according to Schaefer's World....Thursday April 2, 2020.

Mr Rust, thank you and while admitting to be part of the problem, it is extremely difficult to sit by and read some of the posts and threads without replying in kind. Will try to be more tolerant and careful in the future.

    Andrew Cuomo for President

Why? What has he done to merit the job?

I think we should show China our appreciation by stopping the purchase of any of the products made there. They have been taking advantage of us for years with their cheap labor and cheaper products.

All that Cuomo is doing is working his mouth. He had his chance to buy ventilators and other supplies back in 2015. The official report has been deleted - wonder why. Here is a report by the Lt. Governor at the time:

The 2015 report said the state needed over 15,000 ventilators in case of a pandemic.

“Influenza pandemics occur with unpredictable frequency and severity,” the report said. “A moderate pandemic likely would result in a shortfall of ventilators.”

The report warned the governor against relying on the president to bail him out.

“There is a federal government stockpile of ventilators, but… there are not enough ventilators to be distributed to meet demand if many regions need them at once,” it said.

Then the report dropped a real bombshell: Andrew Cuomo wasn’t going to buy the ventilators, anyway.

“There are no current plans to buy enough ventilators for the most severe model,” the report said.

Its authors claimed Cuomo wasn’t buying more ventilators “to maintain adequate funding for current and ongoing health care expenses.”

But former New York lieutenant governor Betsy McCaughey says that doesn’t square with the facts.

“Cuomo could have purchased the additional 16,000 needed ventilators for $36,000 apiece or a total of $576 million in 2015,” she wrote.

Instead, he sunk $750 million into a solar panel factory that created 750 jobs—and gave the people of New York their very own death panels.

The report admitted, “In the event of an overwhelming burden on the health care system, New York will not have sufficient ventilators to meet critical care needs despite its emergency stockpile.”

So, patients who show up wheezing and unable to breathe won’t get a ventilator: They’ll get a code.

Rick, I am sorry but with all that is happened since 2016 and the way they have acted, it is going to be a cold day in whatever before I vote for another Democrat.

I used to try and split my vote to vote for the candidate who most closely represented what I believe in. Especially since the recent Impeachment Farce the Democrats are going to have to work hard to convince me they are working for the good of America instead of being against anything the duly elected leader of the country is tying to do. I am fed up with Obstructionist Politics. I am an American and a Conservative and will vote those values regardless of party. No Socialist will ever get my vote as Socialism which borders on Communism will not work. It has never worked in the past and I see no way it can in the future, therefore that is a non starter with me.

The offical report was deleted but the comments by the Lt. Governor at that time are still available.

Rick: Before you support/vote for Cuomo you might want to Google "Andrew Cuomo scandals" and read those like I did this morning. He might be a TV star now - give him the same scrutiny as given to President Trump.

Trump was a TV star , Reality TV Star . What qualifications did he have to be President ?

    -- Posted by Diseased_Turtle on Thu, Apr 2, 2020, at 8:07 PM

Rick he was also a successful businessman and I think he did a pretty good job of restoring the economy prior to this Chinese virus.

This virus has the potential of creating a worldwide depression, who are we going to blame for that? He followed the Community Organizer who had the slowest recovery since the great recession and was a total waste of 8 years.

  • Mr. VanGennip,

    A little more reality.

“…who had the slowest recovery since the great recession…”

Recall that the average during the Obama administration was about 2.1%. However, during his last 3 years the average was 2.3% as compared to an average of 2.5% for the first 3 years of the current administration.

Not very impressive, and will fall further this year.

-- Posted by Rick Lettau on Sat, Apr 4, 2020, at 9:23 PM

Mr. Lettau: Are you happy that the Virus is doing what no Democrat could do - slow down this Administration's booming economy.

-- Posted by Truth Slinger on Sat, Apr 4, 2020, at 9:28 PM
  • No one is happy about it. It's a matter of fact that the economy was not "booming." In 2017 the growth was 2.4%, in 2018 it was 2.9%, and in 2019 it was 2.3%.

The President's promises were for "booming" growth of 3 to 4% which did not happen. It's not a matter of "happy" it's a matter of accepting the fact the growth rate for the past 10 years has averaged just over 2%. No one says that's a bad thing.

-- Posted by Rick Lettau on Sat, Apr 4, 2020, at 9:38 PM
  • *

Mr. Lettau: IMO, 3.5% unemployment with 230,000 new jobs in January is indeed booming. The 2.4%, 2.9%, and 2.3% are percentages that are compounding from one year to another and is by far better than Obama's. Good try at spinning that's what Liberals do best gripe, hate, and spin.

-- Posted by Truth Slinger on Sat, Apr 4, 2020, at 10:28 PM
  • Mr. Schaefer,

There is so much that you conveniently forget...

For example, you may not remember this but during the Obama administration, the unemployment rate fell from about 10% to about 5%. I'm sure you realize now that rather that "inheriting a mess," President Trump "inherited" a falling unemployment rate due to significant job creation in 2016.

-- Posted by Rick Lettau on Sun, Apr 5, 2020, at 1:04 PM
  • *

Mr. Lettau: Believe you fudged quite a bit - the Oct. 2016 unemployment rate was 7.7% anything after Oct. had the newly elected Trump effect. Good try at half *ss spinning.
