Speak Out: Elementary School Students Reportedly Taught Songs Praising President Obama

Posted by phatness on Thu, Sep 24, 2009, at 2:03 PM:

Pretty scary stuff. I noticed on one of the comments below, it was said that this wasn't at a school, but at a church. That's not to take away how serious this is, but I'm curious, if it did take place in a church, which one?

  • Isn't this song praising thing going on in that wonderful paradise of freedom and glorious government medical care for all called Cuba? "We love our glorious leader Fidel!"

    You know, like also in such equally great places as North Korea, Iran, Libya, etc, etc etc.

    Don'tcha just want to go there and join in such fun games and songfests.

  • OK, here I go....must I always be the voice of reason....gosh dang it, I couldn't copy the lyrics but for the most part seemed innocent enough to me. Well except for the part that "Obama will save the day", seems a lil' superhero-ie to me. As a 'student' I participated in many 'silly' productions/plays. I hardly think the video was 'captured' more like a proud parent videotaping their children. ☻ Running/ducking now..........

  • It is exactly what Hitler did- have the school chilren sing his praises.

    -- Posted by Skeptic1 on Thu, Sep 24, 2009, at 3:47 PM
  • I think the point being missed is that this is the first time in American history that I think ANY president had songs about them taught to young kids.

    Unfortunately, when it's one of us [Black men], the comfort zone rears its head again.

    This time, I'm gonna have to side with the people. I never had this in any of my classes, my friends never had this. Why now, and why Obama?

    That's an answer I know we'll never get, just like we'll never know why he still hasn't addressed the Reg Gladney beating in St Louis a couple of months ago.

  • My firm belief is that Obama doesn't want to be our President, he wants to be our Dictator. He is following Hitler's footsteps. The only problem is I haven't decided what population he wants to wipe out. True he is no friend of the Jews, but I think he really hates Republicans even more.

    Hitler had school children sing songs about Hitler in German public schools. This is just the beginning people, we have 3 more years to be shocked by what he does.

  • I guess I'm less concerned about the kids - they'll either figure it out themselves or forget about it altogether. My concern, shared by most Americans, is the national press singing songs about the president - instead of reporting the truth. And Obama isn't the first president to be called Hitler. And so many people have been called racist that it has almost lost its meaning. Sticks and stones, and all that. Interesting story, but pretty low on the totem pole. What the press needs is a good hurricane to hype - getting tired of car chases.

  • I really don't think at this point that we can really read anything into this other than perhaps a misguided educator. President Obama had nothing to do with this and there is no program to indoctrinate our children and I don't believe the populace will ever allow such a program in the unlikely event it is ever attempted.

    Any president's power is limited and although I disagree with his policies I am more concerned with the house, senate and mindset of much of the population.

  • Evil is of such frightful mean

    To be hated needs but to be seen

    But seen too often, familiar with its face

    We first endure, then welcome, then embrace.

  • FoxNews reported today that the school is wanting to sue the person who posted this video on YouTube. Wow- they want to do what they want in training children to worship Obama and heaven forbid if you report on it. Just like Acorn suing those two people who went undercover and reported Acorn's illegal activities.

  • Now, Mak'i...that's something I could stand behind. That would get rid of some of those frivilous lawsuits, make people think twice about running to an atty. everytime they get their panties in a wad.

    Schools are not allowed to use video/pictures of students without parent permission. Perhaps they are concerned with students being exposed like that.

    So YOU really think Obama "had" school children sing songs about him and he was behind this? He ordered the teacher and students to sing these songs. Well we have gotten the order at my school...YET! But when we do, I'll let you know.

    Of course now that Obamas's been exposed, I doubt if he'll order any more of us to force our students to sing about him. You know, kind of like how you prevented him from giving his "real" speech that would have turned our students into socialists and so he substituted the "work hard and stay in school" speech.

    ***

    From what I'm getting from the news reports, the school is claiming that it was in honor of Black History Month. That's a crock of bull. There are plenty of Arfican Americans that deserve to be honored.

    -- Posted by SpankTheTank on Fri, Sep 25, 2009, at 8:39 AM

    And how many of them were elected president of the United States? Kinda big deal - don't cha think?

  • Hey Everybody, Have a great weekend. I know I'm going to. Headed to St Louis to play a gig with my grand-kids the Ram Rockers! Gonna leave ya with a good ole song about Barack Obama.

    It was a creed written into the founding documents that declared the destiny of a nation.

    Yes we can.

    It was whispered by slaves and abolitionists as they blazed a trail toward freedom.

    Yes we can. Yes we can.

    It was sung by immigrants as they struck out from distant shores

    and pioneers who pushed westward against an unforgiving wilderness.

    Yes we can. Yes we can.

    It was the call of workers who organized;

    women who reached for the ballots;

    a President who chose the moon as our new frontier;

    and a King who took us to the mountain-top and pointed the way to the Promised Land.

    Yes we can to justice and equality.

    (yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can...)

    Yes we can to opportunity and prosperity.

    Yes we can to opportunity and prosperity.

    Yes we can heal this nation.

    Yes we can repair this world.

    Yes we can. Si Se Puede

    (yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can...)

    We know the battle ahead will be long,

    but always remember that no matter what obstacles stand in our way,

    nothing can stand in the way of the power of millions of voices calling for change.

    We want change!

    (We want change! We want change! We want change...)

    We have been told we cannot do this by a chorus of cynics who will only grow louder and more dissonant.

    We've been asked to pause for a reality check.

    We've been warned against offering the people of this nation false hope.

    But in the unlikely story that is America, there has never been anything false about hope. We want change!

    (We want change! I want change! We want change! I want change...)

    The hopes of the little girl who goes to a crumbling school in Dillon are the same as the dreams of the boy who learns on the streets of LA;

    we will remember that there is something happening in America;

    that we are not as divided as our politics suggests;

    that we are one people;

    we are one nation;

    and together, we will begin the next great chapter in America's story with three words that will ring from coast to coast;

    from sea to shining sea - Yes. We. Can.

    (yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can...)

    Where's the songs about the other 43? Wasn't them being elected "Kinda big deal"?

    -- Posted by SpankTheTank on Fri, Sep 25, 2009, at 8:39 AM

    Sure it's a big deal, Spank. But I thought YOU brought up Black History Month as being the reason the school gave and I guess I'm just not sure which one (or more of them) you feel should be honored for being African American?

    Or do you feel the schools should honor the 43 white presidents during Black History Month? They do - it's called Presidents Day.

    ****

    And another of your "statments".

    That's a crock of bull. There are plenty of Arfican Americans that deserve to be honored.

    -- Posted by SpankTheTank on Fri, Sep 25, 2009, at 8:39 AM

    WHINE some more...

  • OK, which is it, "race matters" or "race doesn't/shouldn't matter".

    Seems I remember someone saying something about judging a person by the content of their character and not the color of their skin, no that can't be right can it...

    -- Posted by D'oh on Fri, Sep 25, 2009, at 12:54 PM
  • The part of this I find interesting is, reportedly the teacher leading this little song fest was an ardent supporter of Obama.

    She should leave her political leanings at the door and teach these kids how to read, so they can become good, self supporting citizens not political leftist leaning voters. That would be my opinion!

    -- Posted by Have_Wheels_Will_Travel on Fri, Sep 25, 2009, at 1:09 PM
  • Heck Spank,

    Maybe it is better to teach these kids to be loyal party followers than it is to read and write!

    The idiots that do go to school to learn, and then progress past the eligible voter stage, and into a worthwhile productive lifestyle are going to be on the paying end of this welfare state we progress further and further into.

  • Regained respect for the U.S lost by President Bush and he's opened talks with nations that refused before. He's not given in to the Republicians and hasn't fallen into their traps and low-life tactics...I really like and respect that.

    I like to see him on TV and be open with citizens and not hide like V.P. Chenney and Bush. I like to hear him speak - not snicker and act like a fool. I don't know, I guess he could be reading books to children while building are being bombed, because he refused to pay attention to info provided.

    He seems to be on task to me - he seems to be aware of many things at once. He seems to want to solve problems and not just react. I like our President to think and seek advice. I find all those things positive and so do a lot of other Americans.

    Russia aren't our friends even after Obama caved about the missiles. He thought he could reach out to the Arab nations and they would welcome him, instead they are calling him a liar. USA has always been friends of Israel, but Obama has made it clear that he will not give them our support. So name what nations were not our friends and now are thanks to Obama.

  • It's only fair if we have a month for every group so we can Balkanize this great country even further. For example:

    Scottish American Month

    Welsh American Month

    French American Month

    Dutch Amerrican Month

    German American Month

    Polish American Month

    Italian American Month

    Greek American Month

    Aremenian American Month

    and on and on and on...

    Trouble is we only have 12 months so to be fair Get rid of all of it and have just one month...

    American American Month.

    Of course, that too simple and logical for some people.

    Will help some obviously, but small business... spending a significant amount because it can be expensed in one tax year may not be possible in a recession as it could bankrupt them. Don't remember the Section 179 write off amount, but it was pretty significant already.

  • For clarification, I don't believe public school children should be singing the praises of anyone currently serving no matter what their politics or race.

    A song about the historical significance of the first black President being elected "might" be appropriate.

    For the sake of discussion, I can see a vast difference between singing the praises of someone who has completed a term in office as their accomplishments and failures will by then be fully known. At one point in Nixon's presidency he was considered to have accomplished some good things and early in GW Bush's term, he had very high approval rating though I don't mean to compare the two. At this point, whether you love him, hate him or are somewhere in between, none of us know how President Obama will perform his job or what will happen.

    While I don't think it was "appropriate" for this to have happened, it is not a real concern to me and I think it has gotten more attention than deserved.

  • Federal intervention in the mortgage and credit card debt markets, where they are now nearly the sole buyer, has been specifically undertaken to keep interest rates low and financial firms solvent -- so that Americans can keep buying homes and using their credit cards.

    This is exactly what caused our current economic woes.

    I say that this is a particular promise to do whatever it takes to ensure that the American style of economics - a roller coaster ride of finacial bubbles highlighted by booms and busts - continues well into the future.

    -- Posted by Lumpy on Sat, Sep 26, 2009, at 2:06 PM
  • Wait until the credit card companies start trying to make up the lost revenue with charges to people who pay their bills.

    If everyone handles it the way I will, all that will be left for the card companies will be the deadbeats.

    Lived without credit cards for most of my life and can easily do so again. The credit card bill of rights did nothing for me.

    -- Posted by Have_Wheels_Will_Travel on Sat, Sep 26, 2009, at 2:12 PM
  • I always pay my full balance every month on time. The moment the credit card boys start charging me a fee for doing so, the scissors will be rapidly applied to that card.

    They will lose the fee they charge the merchant for every purchase I would have paid by card.

    -- Posted by voyager on Sat, Sep 26, 2009, at 2:53 PM
  • #3. The irresponsible card holders shouldn't have a card to begin with. Don't buy something you can't pay for.

    Well of course, but then lets rake them through the coals so that they can never pay them off...

    Personal Responsibility Theorist, personal responsibility!

    There have always been people who get in over their head and there always will. There were very few people poorer than we were growing up, and when we could not afford something we did not buy it.

    The people that are maxed out on their credit cards and paying these fees would be shown a kindness if the credit cards simply cut them off. Shifting the burden of exense the credit card company has in dealing with deadbeats to the paying customers is not the way to go. And that is what Obama's intention was from the get go. More share the wealth foolishness.

    Now polish up and bring out your "Need", "Greed" and "Pure Intentions" speech!

Obviously the guilty teacher should be imprisoned for life, and the contaminated school children should be sent to Gitmo (so they cannot bring down the Republican Party all by themselves.) Many of us don't realize how dangerous these children are. If that class gets loose into the general population, who knows how many of our social institutions they will be able to destroy. They might even threaten Spongebob Squarepants next. Please don't abandon your heroic efforts to protect our country from this insidious danger. And by all means, make sure those childern don't get credit cards.

  • There are still bits of wisdom in newspapers. Consider this from Sundays paper:

    THE NAZIS...

    ...CREATED A BRUTAL, REPRESSIVE SOCIETY...

    ...LEFT HALF THE WORLD IN FLAMES...

    AND METHODICALLY MURDERED MILLIONS.

    THEY WERE THE MOST EVIL FORCE IN HISTORY.

    UNDERSTANDABLY, CURRENT PARALLELS ARE FRIGHTENING.

    Presidential Aide: "The bill is stalled sir."

    President Obama: "That does it - I'm giving a speech."

    No wonder the Republic Party is terrified.

  • Thought some people would have to read the above twice to comprehend it.

  • Nine minutes of verbal garbage and brainless vitrol hardly qualifies as controversy. Well, perhaps it does in your narrow little universe.

    You disappoint, not down to your usual standard, Ego.

    -- Posted by voyager on Sun, Sep 27, 2009, at 11:07 AM
  • and your mini-clip with hidden metaphors "did" stir controversy? LOL

    -- Posted by Egotistical_Bigot on Sun, Sep 27, 2009, at 12:52 PM
  • Of, course, Ego, it was for the intelligent. Regret couldn't get it down to your mental level.

    -- Posted by voyager on Sun, Sep 27, 2009, at 1:21 PM
  • Soyager,

    Careful. A mind is a terrible thing to waste. Which is exactly what you're doing when you step into this pit. You've yet to impress me, (Oops) Well...it "is" impressive you're still rumbling off the same mundane rubbish.

    -- Posted by Egotistical_Bigot on Sun, Sep 27, 2009, at 7:39 PM
  • Don't concern yourself, Ego et. al.

    -- Posted by voyager on Sun, Sep 27, 2009, at 8:59 PM
  • Spank, just don't take Ego et.al. seriously. By his own doing, he has made himself a joke. You do understand, of course, he probably will consider BBQ a Neo-Con conspiracy of newbies determined to cast a blanket of doom and gloom upon his self image of immaculate perfection.

    Its a disappointing day if he doesn't offer at least one laugh.

  • Spank

    Reference your post about personal attacks:

    I must admit, my responses are a product of the SO environment. (Bathed in personal attacks) Didn't start this war (don't know how long you've been reading)

    First blood was drawn many many years ago. "Personal attacks" have become par for the course. Sorry...to disappoint many of you, but I am not a "passive" liberalist who turns the other cheek.

    Neo-Cons/Republican'ts by nature (politically speaking) are ruthless, vindictive, and when unable to rebut in an educated manner resort to personal attacks.

    It's been proven to me time and time again that when dancing with the devil (forementioned) that the only way to fight "bigotry" is to use bigotry.

    I mean...here you have "soyager" a reincarnate of some form who comes on here blasting his big mouth thinking he's going to change the game. Unfortunately...he has no comprehension he's playing the same ole game as his cronies. I've been down this road...and in time "Soyager" will fall just like the rest of them and resurrect as the new dick in town.

    Funny how history repeats itself over and over and over here...huh?
