A southeast Missouri soldier has died and all the military is saying about his cause of the death is that it was not combat.

22-year-old Specialist Robert Charlton of Malden died Tuesday in a German hospital.

He was with the tenth mountain division out of fort drum and stationed in Afghanistan.

Charlton joined the army in 2007 and had been on his first deployment in Afghanistan since January.

  • Anyone who has served honorably in the military in any capacity is owed our gratitude and that goes doubly for those who have lost their life no matter the circumstances.

My thoughts, prayers and gratitude goes out to the family.
