  • From the beloved NY Times:

"MOST Americans know that Memorial Day is about honoring the nation's war dead. It is also a holiday devoted to department store sales, half-marathons, picnics, baseball and auto racing. But where did it begin, who created it, and why?"

Spot on swamp. Your personal opinion/experience is just as good as anyone else's on here.

  • Looks like a lot of needless death and destruction created by the USG and it's politicians. Sorry for those affected.

  • No matter our feelings of why we went to war, I believe we owe the men and women who volunteered or were compelled to give their all in a sense of patriotism, a debt of gratitude and respect for their dedication. There were a few who, by their actions, perhaps do not deserve it... but by far, our men and women in the military are to be respected. A big Thank You to them this Memorial Day.
