Speak Out: Supreme Court Nomination

Posted by commonsensematters on Fri, Feb 19, 2016, at 10:57 AM:

Article II, Section 2 of the United States Constitution states that the President shall nominate Supreme Court judges.

Now, in a hypocritical turn of events, republicans demand that the President disregard the Constitution and not make that appointment.

  • The current President has disregarded the Constitution to this point, why would he start respecting it now?

Unasked question answered..... recent Supreme Court Decision to clip his wings on his war on coal fired generation plants.

  • Rick,

Let him nominate, nobody can stop him from that, but he either nominates someone with America's values or..... thumbs down.

  • Sure, how about someone that was approved by the Senate 97-0 for a lower court.

The key might be the word "lower". A political payoff maybe and put in a place where they can little harm. Does this party have a name Common?

  • Trying to figure out if Common has talked the DNC into Ponying up for his subscription, or if he has figured out a way to budget his freebie time. 😁

Of course you knew this. Apparently you don't know what hypocritical means - or you wouldn't act the way you do.

  • The qualifications for a lower court is not the same as the Supreme Court qualifications which is at the highest mark. Just as the qualifications for a Community Organizer is not the same as the Presidency at the highest mark.

Rick: Besides Washington lets also add John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin who would probably be ashamed of the direction the country that they helped to conceive has turned out.

  • Knowing the risk of criticism I offer that the supreme court was in the basement, the lowest branch of government at a time when lifespan was much shorter. A lifetime appointment didn't mean what it does today. It wasn't until the executive branch of government gained more power through administrative law that the supreme court became controversial. The progressive movement that was earlier than most history books recognize infused politics by way of opposing parties and ideology. I will never believe that the many folks involved in writing the rules of our nation, what we call the constitution could have held the wisdom they imparted without Divine intervention. As we progress away from our blessings of being a Christian founded nation and being thankful for it, we may find ourselves seeking God not to praise Him but to beg him.

Roosevelt wanted to add more judges to the court to allow his agenda. Both parties seek to stack the court and now we are where we are just as the founders warned us.

  • A Leftist uses anything or any part of anything to further his agenda. They will bring up the fact that we are not as "progressive" as Europe.

Well thank God for something we have left. I would prefer to look upon it as Europe has never managed to find the freedom our founders fought and died for when they threw off Europe's yoke.

Because Europe chooses to go to hell in a handcart...... why are we bound and determined to follow.

Wheels: At least the European countries are now awakening to their failed attempt of welcoming the Syrian refugees and are now sending the majority of them back to Syria or somewhere else besides Europe. Open protests by their citizens have persuaded the European countries to do the crawdad over the refugees situation.
