Loretta was born March 19, 1931, in Advance, Mo., the daughter of Walter and Dorothy Tropf Thompson.
Loretta retired from the Division of Family Services after 24 years. She had also been a self-employed beautician and later sold real estate. She was a member of the Advance United Methodist Church and VFW Auxiliary. She was the proud owner of Century Farms in Advance; her family has owned the property for more than 100 years. She also enjoyed genealogy.
Loretta and R.H. "JD" Phelps were united in marriage Oct. 9, 1949, at Bell City United Methodist Church and he preceded her in death March 19, 1970.
Survivors include a daughter, Victoria (Ed) Brazer of Jackson; three grandchildren, Meagan Brazer, Zachary (Jaime) Brazer and Leah (Colby) Cathcart; and two great-grandchildren, Tayton Cathcart and Brynlie Brazer.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Pleasant Hill Church near Advance.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
